Event Details

I don't think it's hyperbole to call our PandoMonthly San Francisco guest this month a legend in the venture capital world. If there was a hall of fame of venture capital somewhere, John Doerr would be voted in on the first ballot. (Also, for the bulk of the US population, that'd be the world's most boring museum...)

Get your tickets to see Doerr now!

Doerr joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 1980, after a stint at Intel in its glory days under Andy Grove. He invested in some of the most famous companies in Valley history including  Intuit, Netscape, Amazon, Google, and Zynga. Doerr has touched more iconic Silicon Valley companies than most people, not only making his limited partners billions of dollars but helping shape what it means to invest in fast-growing early stage startups.

After dominating the Web and software in the late 1990s, Kleiner Perkins and Doerr took a turn into clean tech-- a move that has been viewed as everything from bold and heroic to ill-advised. In recent years, Doerr has started investing in the Web again, leading investments in Twitter, Square, and Flipboard and serving on Zynga's board of directors.

Silicon Valley has changed dramatically since 1980 and there are few men who have been at the forefront of each of those waves. We will talk about Doerr's history, his lessons from working with some of the Valley's most iconic names, his missteps along the way, and where Kleiner Perkins and the Valley is going in the future. This will be a candid conversation entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs won't want to miss.

One housekeeping note about this month's event: After a year of producing our monthly event series at Madrone Studios we've decided to change things up. Over the next few months, we're going to test out a few different venues and atmospheres and maybe even what kind of food and drinks we serve. Our guests are always excellent-- hell, we're even nominated for an Emmy for the series-- but we think the atmosphere in the room and potential for networking could be better. This month's event will be at Terra Gallery in Soma, and it's sponsored by TriNet. We hope to see you all there!
